| Overview
Eastfield Residents Association approached North Yorkshire Council for advice in relation to providing a replacement fit for purpose concrete skatepark facility within the town. A working group was then formed as part of the Eastfield Pact Partnership (a regeneration partnership) to explore suitable sites for a skatepark, the process of which is ongoing. The process of finding a suitable site has involved preliminary discussion with the Local Planning Authority, Environmental Health and Police. One of the sites identified is the site of the former Overdale School, which was decommissioned in September 2021. The school has been relocated nearby and the vacant buildings require demolishing. Eastfield Residents Association has undertaken consultation with young people on wheeled sport activity (since August 2022), showing that over 80% support having a skate park and associated activities. GCL are providing Quantity Surveying services as part of the primary feasibility study, working closely with BDP Architects.
