| Worden Hall Completion

After over 18 months of hard work by the Gosling Consulting team, our project for South Ribble Council, redeveloping Worden Hall in Leyland, completed in August 2022!

The Derby Wing of Worden Hall dates to the 1720-30’s and is the only remaining part of the Hall that survived a large fire at the estate in 1941 which resulted in the demolition of the main country house, alongside the attached Barn and Stables outbuildings. The Derby Wing was named to commemorate the long association of the owners, the Farington family, with the Earls of Derby, dating back to the 16th Century and consists of eight rooms over two floors.

Worden Hall had remained unused for over eight years up to present day and required extensive refurbishment to transform the hall into a flexible community and event space.

The completed project has delivered a new café, range of function spaces, meeting rooms, and landscaped areas.

On completion in August 2022, Councillor Paul Foster, Leader of South Ribble Council said, “This is a landmark day for South Ribble. Everyone knows Worden Hall; it’s such an iconic place in the borough and generations of residents have a special connection to the building. Some have attended parties there, saw performances, taken part in community activities there, or even got married there. “People have grown up with the Hall as a backdrop and that’s why to see the once incredible building fall into decay was something we couldn’t stand for. Bringing this iconic building back into the hands of the people of South Ribble is exactly what we wanted to do, and we’ve achieved it.”

Gosling Consulting were engaged early in the process and were able to apply our expertise in procurement management, design development, cost management and project management to deliver a truly fabulous scheme.

We are very proud of what has been achieved in supporting the reawakening of this local monument, a testament to what hard work, skill and collaboration can deliver.
