As part of Chorley Councils town centre masterplan, the former Buzz Bingo site in Chorley had been identified as part of the long term goals, as a site for a public square and event space. The building was vacated in 2020 and handed back to the Council, who decided to demolish the failing structure, deal with the asbestos within the fabric and construct a temporary car park. GCL managed the whole process including cost planning, procurement of contractors, management of works on site, cost management and contract administration. The works were complex and restricted due to the town centre environment so our services were integral to the smooth operation of the project and the clear communication with stakeholders. The Chorley skyline has been dramatically improved following the demolition of the structure and the parking space is a welcome temporary addition until the final plans for the space are determined.
